Let’s talk about iPads.
Apple is ready to release some major iPad upgrades this fall.
If we go back a couple months and in the rumor chain, Mac Otakara reported that Apple is looking to release a 4th generation iPad Air.
Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also said that in the second half of 2020 a 10.8-inch iPad. Kuo has not specified if the 10.8-inch iPad is an Air or a low-cost standard iPad, but based on other rumors, the device is likely to be an iPad Air model.
Credible leaker Jon Prosser claimed that Apple will release an unspecified iPad in September via a press release.
Infamous Manual Leak
A manual said to be for the iPad Air 4 leaked last month, confirming many of the rumors we’ve heard about the upcoming iPad Air. It appears to feature an all-screen display. Instead of adopting Face ID, it uses Touch ID built into the power button of the device.
Slimmer Bezels
Apple has been rumored to be creating iPads with a 10.8-inch and 11-inch display, though those may be two separate models. Most reports agree that the iPad released in September will be a 10.8-inch device.
More significantly, Apple is expected to remove the Home button on the 10.8-inch iPad and give the device much slimmer and more uniform bezels. The display itself could be a Liquid Retina — the same display used in the iPad Pro.
Multiple rumors and predictions, including from Kuo, indicate that the new “iPad Air 4” model would ditch the Lightning port in favor of a USB-C connection. A USB-C port would give the iPad many more options for powerful connectivity and would bring the device more in-line with the iPad Pro lineup.
Price
The new iPad’s adoption of Pro features could bring with it a Pro price tag. Rumors indicate the device will start from $649.
